About Kaladharaa

Kaladharaa Dance is an established dance organization based in Utah & Washington D.C., who’s mission is to
promote and preserve the Indian classical across boundaries, focusing mainly on ‘Kathak’ which is one
amongst the eight Indian classical dance forms, with its origin from North India.

Nidhika Loomba & Sonali Loomba are the artistic directors of this organization who have studied kathak
extensively under the guidance of their Guru’s Sri Hari & Smt. Chethana Hari , Internationally recognized
Kathak dance couple from Bangalore, India.

The duo, Nidhika & Sonali have performed as soloist and duet’s on National and International platforms such
as TEDx Salt Lake City / TEDx BentleyU , Kennedy Art Center- Washington DC, Wolf Trap – Virginia, Baltimore
Theater Project – Maryland, National Arts Center- Ottawa, Panteges Play house- Winnipeg, Korzo Theater-
Netherlands, Gandhi Center- Netherlands, Musée Guimet- Paris, éspace Culturel Django Reinhardt-
Strasbourg. Hampi Utsav, Natyajanli Festival, Perur to name a few.

Their solo & Collaborative works such as ‘Anubhav- An Experience ’ , ‘Aarambh- A beginning ’. ‘Anhad –
Journey of a Seeker ’, ‘Roots & Rhythms – Exploring the kinship between Flamenco & Kathak’ are noteworthy.

Kaldharaa dance has trained over 200+ art enthusiast on the nuances of this ancient art form and continues to
do in order to serve their mission to spread awareness of this art form. Dancers range from age 6 –50, both male and female. Classes are a combination of Theory of History & Culture of India and Kathak along with practical application.

The organization hosts a Bi-annual event known as ‘Baithak’ where every student learning with Kaladharaa is
given an opportunity to present Kathak in professional performing theatre set up.

Kaladharaa Dance operates under a nonprofit organization, Samarpan Art Center, a 501(c)(3) which also supports other welfare organizations, through art.
